Deliverance.

Created 1993 for music publishing, Reckless Raven returned 2023 as a multimedia studio for art, audio, fashion, books, and more.

Eric S. Townsend honored local hero Edgar Allan Poe in publishing his first songs under Reckless Raven (1993, Richmond VA, USA). 15 years later, a chance encounter with the bird inspired THE SUN HANGS LOW. It became his first self-narrated audiobook, recorded on location in Iceland using only the voice memo app on his phone. Just 4.5 hours of daylight for 14 days. An unforgettable Arctic December.

WHY THE RAVEN? Indigenous cultures in the Pacific Northwest view the bird as a symbol of creativity, mischief, and magic. In Norse mythology (Icelandic Sagas), they’re omniscient messengers. Christians revere ravens for delivering provisions under divine command to the prophet Elijah. EXPLORE THIS
